I’m an ex-bodybuilder, been lifting for nearly 20 years. However, after a few injuries and now arthritis in my lower back I’ve obviously eased offi. I’m also in menopause to strength, energy etc wanes after a couple of weeks of full on training. Trying to keep lifting 3-4 times per week and 2 short body conditioning sessions. So, with that said, what would be the best program for me. Looking to lean down a little and maintain muscle. Always been bulky at 60kg consistently for years. I was 57kg when I last competed in 2015. Currently doing Womens Prime and enjoying it but wandering if it is really right for me. Any advice?
You’ve got some awesome muscle shape! Womens prime is a lower intensity higher volume program to build endurance. You might find it really zaps energy on those off menopausal weeks. A lower volume approach along the lines of Powerbuild 2.0 might be a good one too!
BUT if you’re finding you’re feeling just fine running through womens prime, keep it up!
When you have those off weeks, you can always do Roots as a deload week instead (just add it to your program using the workout builder for that week). That’d be great for your lower back and injuries too!
